Traditional Food From Kudus Regency

Jenang Kudus is one of traditional food from Kudus Regency that made from glutinous rice flour, coconut milk and java sugar. Even though it has made from various flavor now such as durian, ginger, sesame, milk, strawberry, etc. However, Jenang Kudus retaining the authenticity of brown color with java sugar.

This traditional food is made and processed traditionally by a lot of peoples or about 10 until 15 peoples together. There are sections that peel and grate coconut, and make coconut milk. There is a charge of kneading the dough for 4 hours in a row over a wood fire stove using a large skillet or commonly called the crater. There is a charge of cutting and packing in transparent plastic before entered into the packing box. Unless some major Jenang company has used modern way with machines. Jenang Kudus can be found in throughtout the city in shops that sell souvenirs of Kudus Regency. However, is's not feasible if we haven't visited the village which is the production center of Jenang Kudus. Kaliputu village is the forerunner to the manufacturer of Jenang Kudus, until now there are  48 manufacturers of Jenang Kudus in large and small scale.
